Not every salad dressing has to be garlicky. Or herby. A little spiciness now-and-then is a good thing, even in a salad dressing. That’s why this smoky French salad dressing was such a hit in our house. Salad Week (which happens at least once a month) was definitely a happier time with this dressing on hand. It’s essentially exactly what you think. A classic French dressing kicked up with a chipotles in adobo sauce (smoked jalapenos, along with some of the delicious sauce they come in) for heat and smokiness.
Great On Sandwiches Too!
This smoky French salad dressing would be great on more than ‘just’ a salad. First thing I thought of was a Reuben sandwich. Yeah, I know usually that means Russian or Thousand Island dressings, but this salad would bring a nice spicy edge to each and every bite. It’d be different for sure and that’s a good thing. I think I’ll give that a try!
I like to keep my homemade dressings in Mason jars in the fridge. When it comes time to serve them I just take them out, give them a good shake or two, and I’m ready to get to salad eatin’!
